The key to getting published.
Your research can shape how the public and policymakers understand an issue, but only if it reaches them. And if you want to reach them by writing for a general-audience publication, you need to hook an editor first. Enter: the pitch. While there’s no one way to write a pitch, we have some rules of the road to help scholars navigate the format.
This workshop, run by Editorial & Media Specialist Kelly Smits, will cover:
- What a pitch is, and why it’s important
- The key components of any pitch
- A pitch template
- Common reasons pitches get rejected
- Examples of successful pitches
This workshop is open to faculty and graduate students.
