Co-sponsored by the Office of Public Scholarship and The Writing Center, this workshop is designed to familiarize WashU scholars with the process of publishing short book reviews for general audiences.

Participants will learn what this genre is, where to publish such pieces, and how to get started. Attendees will also consider a few examples and learn the house styles of various outlets.

The workshop will cover best practices, such as how to strategically meet the word length, figure out the peg to get started, and more. By the end of the workshop attendees will select a book and request a review copy, and/or identify a suitable venue to pitch a review.

Ideal for graduate students but open to all WashU scholars.

  •  Lunch will be provided.
